UNITED
METHODIST HAPPENINGSPastor, administrator, writer, and television host Dr. Mary John Dye is sure to inspire us with her wisdom and experience. She has worked as an advocate for women, in campus ministry, in inter-racial groups, and on many commissions and committees within the denomination including those on UMW and Missions. A graduate of Asbury, she went on to attend Candler School Theology and Memphis Theological Seminary and earned her Doctor of Ministry degree form the Theological School of Drew University.
She and her husband, also clergy, reared two daughters and three foster children. When Dr. Dye’s father, James Shepherd, retired from the Kentucky conference in 1991, the occasion marked 196 years of full time Christian ministry in the Methodist Church through his immediate family.
